The Spalding pumpkin festival began in October 2002, and has taken place almost every year since. It was conceived as a way to increase awareness of the town of Spalding and the pumpkin industry in general. The festival has grown each year, and includes a farmers' market during the day, and entertainment in the evening before a parade of carved pumpkins. The day is rounded off with a spectacular firework display in the town centre. The 2020 festival was unfortunately cancelled due to the pandemic, but other smaller events still took place. See here for details of 2019's event.
